Job Description: Volleyball — HEAD COACH
Known as OLH, Our Lady of the Hills Catholic High School is a private college preparatory high school located on 80 acres in the beautiful Texas Hill Country on the outskirts of Kerrville. OLH is accredited through the Archdiocese of San Antonio, the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops - Education Department (TCCB-ED). Since 2007, 100% of our graduates have been accepted to a four-year university. With a student body composed of varied ethnic, religious, and financial backgrounds, the school
reflects the diverse population of the Texas Hill Country. The curriculum and extra-curricular activities are rooted in the traditions of the Jesuit and Dominican religious orders. Students attend regular classes Monday-Thursday with Fridays reserved for Independent Study and Enrichment

REPORTS TO:
Athletic Director
WORK HOURS AND EXPECTATIONS:
-On/off-campus responsibilities from 4:00 pm until 6:30 pm Monday through Friday.
-Coaching responsibilities may result in extended weekday or weekend commitments, depending on evening games and/or playoffs.
-All coaches are employed on a seasonal basis and continued employment is based on annual performance reviews conducted by the Athletic Director.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Working closely with the Athletic department, the head coach of Volleyball is responsible for initiating various aspects of the Volleyball program, such as program development, training, practice scheduling, and coaching team members.
-The coach is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by Our Lady of the Hills Catholic High School and the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS).
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
-Supportive of the teachings and practices of the Catholic church;
-Preferred practicing Catholic in good standing
-Bachelor’s degree preferred;
-Possess and maintain a coaching philosophy that is in accordance with the mission of
Our Lady of the Hills Catholic High School;
-A strong commitment to the student-athlete concept;
-1-2 years of coaching or playing experience;
-Effective leadership, coaching and recruiting skills;
-Ability to establish positive relationships with students, parents, and faculty/staff.
-Excellent communication skills with players, parents, and the athletic department;
-Ability to coach in a positive manner and always treat athletes with dignity and respect;
-Ability to always demonstrate good sportsmanship and teach sportsmanship to athletes;
-Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to drive a small school van and a driving record that meets insurance requirements;
-Have a Class B CDL License with School and Passenger Bus endorsement – preferred
-Certification in CPR and AED usage.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Encourage, train, and coach the participants of the volleyball program;
-Coordinate the development and promotion of the volleyball program in
conjunction with the mission of the school;
-Collaborate with the Athletics department on hiring, retention, evaluation, and
professional development of the volleyball coaching staff;
-Schedule and organize practice sessions;
-Schedule games in conjunction with the Athletic Director;
- Represent OLH Catholic High School and the volleyball program in a professional manner and within the bounds of good sportsmanship;
-Dress professionally for all games and practices.
-Be present for all games and tournaments;
-Travel with the team for out-of-town games.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
-Be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the United States;
-Successfully complete a background check and all required Human Resource trainings;
-Successfully complete all required TAPPS trainings;
-Meet federal, state, and local requirements
This is a seasonal position that is paid a coaching stipend over the duration of the volleyball pre-season and season.
The ideal candidate is someone who is strong in their faith, ambitious, a team player, and adaptable.
